Indecine.org announced that the ISAAS (Indie Screening Alliance of Art Space), an initiative founded in 2011 by (dGenerate Films consultant) Zhang Xianmin to promote independent film and contemporary art in China, will launch a 2012 series beginning this June. The theme of this roving art and cinema show will be “Does the Art Movement Exist?”

The first ISAAS series last year brought over twenty films to numerous Chinese cities with the theme “To Live In China,” and was profiled in Chinese Artforum. This year’s series will feature work by Jia Zhangke, Ai Weiwei, Hu Jie, Zhao Liang, Li Ning and many more. The objective of this mobile screening series and art exhibition is to encourage the spread of Chinese independent narrative and documentary, promote new thinking on independent arts practice, and create an environmental of accessible artistic exchange.
