Chinese/Asian Studies with primary specialization in modern Chinese

Position Announcement

The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at the University
 

 
of Oregon is conducting a search in modern/contemporary Chinese literature
 

 
at the Visiting Assistant Professor level for Winter and Spring terms,
 

 
2013 (December 16, 2012 ­ June 15, 2013). The position is full time (100%
 

 
fte) at the rank of assistant professor. Salary will be commensurate with
 

 
experience.

We seek a high quality candidate prepared to teach a mix of undergraduate
 

 
survey courses in modern/contemporary Chinese literature and film and
 

 
graduate seminars in the candidate’s area of research (two courses per
 

 
quarter). Graduate student advising and mentoring is expected.

Requirements for the position include a Ph.D. in Chinese language,
 

 
literature or culture, native or near native fluency in Mandarin and
 

 
English, a strong commitment to excellence in scholarship, and dedication
 

 
to undergraduate and graduate teaching. The successful candidate will have
 

 
the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from a
 

 
variety of diverse backgrounds.

Located 110 miles south of Portland, the University of Oregon has an
