Tenure Track Position in Chinese/Asian Studies at St. Mary’s College of
Maryland
St. Mary’s College of Maryland at Historic St. Mary’s City is accepting
applications for a tenure track position as an Assistant Professor of
Chinese/Asian Studies with primary specialization in modern Chinese
Literature or Cultural Studies starting in fall 2013. Ph.D. in hand is
strongly preferred. Ability and commitment to teach all levels of Chinese
and courses in English in one’s field, near native fluency in both Chinese
and English, and US college teaching experience are required.
Candidate must be interested in working in a multi-language department with a cultural studies orientation and in actively participating in the growing Asian Studies Cross-Disciplinary program. Experience and interesti n study abroad programs is highly desirable. A commitment to continued professional activities, an interest in mentoring student projects, and adesire to participate in departmental and all-college activities areexpected. An interest in attracting and retaining students from underrepresented groups is desirable.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Chinese
Position Announcement
The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at the University
of Oregon is conducting a search in modern/contemporary Chinese literature
at the Visiting Assistant Professor level for Winter and Spring terms,
2013 (December 16, 2012 ­June 15, 2013). The position is full time (100%
fte) at the rank of assistant professor. Salary will be commensurate with
experience.
We seek a high quality candidate prepared to teach a mix of undergraduate
survey courses in modern/contemporary Chinese literature and film and
graduate seminars in the candidate’s area of research (two courses per
quarter). Graduate student advising and mentoring is expected.
Requirements for the position include a Ph.D. in Chinese language,
literature or culture, native or near native fluency in Mandarin and
English, a strong commitment to excellence in scholarship, and dedication
to undergraduate and graduate teaching. The successful candidate will have
the ability to work effectively with faculty, staff and students from a
variety of diverse backgrounds.
Located 110 miles south of Portland, the University of Oregon has an
enrollment of 20,000. The Eugene metro area (pop. 215,000) is in a region
noted for its dynamic quality of life and progressive cultural
environment. We are about an hour’s drive from the Pacific coast and the

Assistant Professor, East Asian History: The Department of History at The
College of Wooster invites applications for a tenure-track position in
East Asian History beginning August 2013. The successful candidate will
teach survey courses in Chinese and Japanese History, as well as
introductory courses in history and upper-level courses in his/her area of
specialization. We welcome applications in all areas of East Asian
History. Sub-fields might include intellectual history, history of
science, environmental history, comparative history, global history, or
other sub-fields that complement our existing offerings. The successful
candidate will also supervise undergraduate research in the College’s
required Independent Study Program and participate in the College’s
interdisciplinary programs, including Chinese Studies, East Asian Studies
and First-Year Seminars in Critical Inquiry. Ph.D. expected by August
2013.
